Save Our Sisters Dragon Boat Racing Team, South Florida’s first all breast cancer survivor team, celebrates it’s 10th anniversary today with a Dragon Boat Race on the beautiful waters of Biscayne Bay. The event kicks off at 8:30am with the National Anthem performed by local guitarist and Guitars Over Guns alum, Rody La France. Racing starts at 9am, with over 30 teams (600 athletes) made up of breast cancer survivor teams, community organizations and local corporations. Each team is comprised of 20 paddlers, paddling to the beat of the drum. At 12:00pm, a graceful water ceremony will take place in remembrance of all those we’ve lost to cancer, and in their honor, pink flowers will be tossed into the water. The races conclude at 3:30pm with the Grand Championship Final Heat, with the awards ceremony to follow right after.
