as part of AT&T’s Believe Chicago initiative
April 11, 2019 (Chicago, IL): Guitars Over Guns is pleased to announce its First Annual Regional Recording & Music Video Project, bringing nearly 80 students, to record and film one epic music video. With the support from AT&T* as part of its Believe Chicago initiative, students from Evergreen Academy Middle School, Beethoven Elementary, Sawyer Elementary, CICS Lloyd Bond Elementary, and the Guitars Over Guns’ Haven Studios at Mt. Pisgah Church, will converge to remake a mash-up of the hit songs Sunflower and Scars to Your Beautiful by Post Malone & Alessia Cara.
We’re inviting media to attend the recording session to experience and capture the process, professionalism, and joy that this special opportunity brings the students. To many, it’s an avenue of exploring potential career paths, and awareness of opportunities within the music industry, that will hopefully inspire future decisions. To all of them, it’s a memory that will last a lifetime.

About Believe Chicago
Believe Chicago is an AT&T employee initiative to improve lives and lift 19 Chicago neighborhoods most affected by gun violence and high unemployment. By focusing our company’s people, hiring, services and contributions, we will lift these neighborhoods and help residents find opportunity they deserve to succeed in education, careers, and life. Key Believe Chicago outcomes include:
- Since the beginning of 2018, AT&T hired more than 500 residents of the 19 neighborhoods on Chicago’s south and west sides.
- AT&T has contributed more than $3 million to organizations helping residents in the Believe Chicago neighborhoods.
- AT&T invested to open a new corporate owned retail store in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago in March 2019. The store at 6232 South Halsted hired residents of the 19 Believe Chicago neighborhoods.
- To change a negative narrative about Chicago, AT&T’s AUDIENCE Network produced the documentary, “Beacons of Hope: Stories of Strength from Chicago,” telling the stories of five people improving lives by helping others in Chicago.
