Communications Intern

Are you passionate about community causes and communications? Do you use writing and social media to advocate for causes you care about? theAOinsight Group and United Way of Miami-Dade County seek a class of creative interns with a mind for philanthropy and knowledge of social media to participate in a unique social communications cohort with United Way and a group of notable South Florida nonprofits.

Each intern will be paired with a local nonprofit organization with whom they will work to assess the organization’s existing social media strategy, generate content ideas, measure results, and provide weekly insight and updates. Interns will additionally have the opportunity to attend 5 optional workshop sessions every other week* from October through December, where they will learn about topics in social media marketing including storytelling, engagement, audience, and more.

Interns will be expected to visit their assigned nonprofit in order to gather materials (including capturing photos and videos as applicable), meet with organization staff to discuss content development strategy, and work collaboratively to create social media content that can be used by the nonprofit to engage their audience and grow their impact.

Applicants should have experience with social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with knowledge of analytics on these platforms. Storytelling skills are a priority, and graphic design skills are a plus.
